The Black Dog
A few years ago, when I still lived at my parent’s house, I had a strange experience in the middle of the night. I woke up and noticed that the security light in the back garden was flickering on and off. I thought it was a bit odd but ignored it, thinking it was just faulty.
However, after a little while, it started to annoy me, and I got up. When I looked outside, I saw the shadow of a big black dog. It was too large to be a fox or anything like that, and none of the neighbours has such big dogs. The light flickered off, and when it came back on, I saw two shiny reflective eyes looking up at me from about halfway down the garden, it’s eyes shining kind of like cats eyes do. I felt really shocked and frozen, the light went off for a split second, and when it lit the garden again, the dog was gone with no trace. The light carried on flickering, albeit a bit less frequently.
This is where it gets even weirder. My room is on the back of the house, and the switch to the security light is in my room behind my computer desk (it’s kind of difficult to get to, you have to move the desk). I got up and turned the light off at the main switch. Part of me thought that it must have been a dream. However, the next evening the light wasn’t working, and I remembered turning it off. I didn’t go back to bed or anything, I went straight from seeing the big black dog to turning the light off. In other words, I definitely saw what I saw!
This happened in Sheffield. My parent’s don’t live too near to Bunting Nook, Norton, which is an area of Sheffield, that a mysterious big black dog has been reported and I wonder if it’s related to what I saw. A freaking hellhound!
