5 Seemingly Creepy Things Spotted On Google Maps
The world is a vast and beautiful place, and most people are not fortunate enough to be able to explore it……But thanks to Google Maps and Google Earth you can now conduct your own virtual world tour for free and view and explore over 65 countries, spanning seven continents all from the comfort of your home.
And Google Maps is responsible for capturing some of the most spectacular and unbelievable sights from around the world. However now and then something turns up that is truly shocking or creepy for the viewer….So here we look at five occasions when Google Maps has thrown up something completely unexpected.
5Strange Anomaly On Road In Sweden
This was spotted on Google Maps when zooming in and following the 2149 road in Västra Götaland County, Sweden. Not a lot is known about it, but it does look a bit eerie………as you track along the road a black object appears on the screen.
Now it is quite possible it was just dirt on the lens or an insect, but when it first appears, it does look a bit odd and could easily be confused for something paranormal.
The the fact that it is in broad daylight and there is nothing about the area that has any known paranormal activity, makes me think it probably is something on the lens, although it definitely looks kind of creepy.

4Creepy Doll Village In Japan
If you look at Google Maps for a tiny village called Nagoro located in the valleys of Shikoku, Japan you might get a shock…as you follow the road through the village all is not what it seems. Take a look at this creepy footage, and then I’ll explain what’s going on.
As you may have noticed the village is populated not by people but by creepy looking dolls, they are the work of Tsukimi Ayano, who returned to her childhood village after many years away, and discovered that most of the residents that she formerly knew had either died or left.
Feeling lonely she first made a doll that resembled her deceased father; this was followed by recreations of other members of her family and progressed to former residents of the village all in the form of life-sized dolls.
There are around 350 life dolls scattered around the village each representing a dead or former resident. Even the school has a few dolls sat at desks waiting for classes to begin…..in the fields dolls are dotted around as they would be in life and all around the village, Tsukimi has placed dolls of the people she once knew, in the places she remembers they hung out or worked. Some are just sitting on the side of the road or fishing in the river.
The whole thing is spooky, especially if you accidentally come across it on Google Maps…
3Murder Caught On Maps
When this image was first spotted Google Maps, it shocked a lot of people. It appears to show a man dragging a body towards a lake, leaving behind a trail of blood along a wooden pier. The coordinates of the image indicate it is in Beatrixpark, Almere in the Netherlands.
Concerned watchers were convinced that a murder had been captured on the satellite image and it soon went viral online, with theories about the seemingly gruesome murder.
Take a look and see what your initial thoughts are….
After the image came to light, even the police got involved, but it soon became apparent that there had been a misinterpretation of the scene and there was a perfectly innocent explanation.
What appeared to be a dead body in a pool of blood was in fact two people and a wet dog! The trail of blood was actually a trail of water left by the pet!
After seeing the image in the newspapers, the dog owner came forward to clear up the incident and verify that there was no dead body or murder…..simply an over-excited wet dog!
2Man In The Trunk
This bizarre scene was captured by a Google Maps Street View car in Germany.
The image shocked those who viewed it, with many more concerned about the dog than the man in the trunk!
The image shows a naked man in a compromising situation, in the trunk of his convertible car……lying nearby on his driveway, is either a sleeping dog or dead dog. There are also several items strewn on the drive.
Take a look and see what you think is going on.
There are several suggestions about what the man is up to, including a kidnapping where the dog has been killed, and the man is trying to escape.
The man is engaged in some sort of bizarre sexual act…
A far less sinister explanation…. that the man is fixing something or cleaning his car in light coloured shorts and the dog is simply napping on the driveway.
As yet no one has come forward to clear up what exactly was going on, so for now, it remains unknown, and seeing as Google Street View removed the images that just adds to the mystery.
1In Plain Sight For 9 Years
In October 2006 72 year old David Lee Niles disappeared….he was last seen leaving Jake’s Bar, In Byron Township, Michigan. At the time of his disappearance, Mr Niles was suffering from cancer.
After years of searching for him, in 2011 his family lost hope of ever finding him alive and published this online obituary
NILES, DAVIE LEE Wyoming Davie Lee Niles, age 72, of Wyoming, passed away and only God knows the time and place. A brief memorial service will be held on Wednesday 3:30 pm at Faith Reformed Church.
Then four years later in December 2015, Brian Houseman was decorating a Christmas Tree outside the Cook Funeral Home in Byron Centre, when he spotted a car submerged in a nearby pond. He called the Kent County Sheriff’s Department to notify them and after pulling the car from the water Niles’ skeletal remains were discovered in the driver’s seat.
It was later revealed that the submerged car with Niles body inside was visible on Google Maps the whole time.
Take a look
Foul play was not suspected although it is unclear how he ended up in the pond, but at last, the family had closure.
